Missing Shore woman was last traveling in tractor-trailer in fatal crash

An Eastern Shore of Virginia woman remains missing more than two weeks after the man with whom she told family she was traveling with died in a crash.

The Accomack County Sheriff’s Office posted to Facebook about missing person Alyssa Nicole Taylor, 25, on Sept. 25, noting she said she was “leaving the area in a tractor-trailer for a few days.”

That Sept. 13 text to her mother Krista Taylor, whom she lived with in Accomack County, Virginia, was her last contact with family, according to the News & Observer.

In the message, Taylor said she was “riding with Danny in tractor-trailer for two days.”

Daniel Eugene McNeal, 51, of Exmore, Virginia, died Sept. 14 when the tractor-trailer he was driving burned in a single-vehicle crash on Interstate 85 west in Hillsborough, according to North Carolina State Highway Patrol records.

The tractor-trailer, registered to VFS Leasing, ran off the road to the right and struck a guardrail before hitting a traffic sign and bridge abutment, according to Highway Patrol. The Mack truck then overturned and came to a rest on the right shoulder. The truck was hauling chicken parts.

His dog, Blu, also was killed, according to the News & Observer.

“Exhaustive efforts” to look over the crash scene and truck were made, Highway Patrol told WRALbut Alyssa Taylor, was not located there.
