An Eastern Shore of Virginia woman remains missing more than two weeks after the man with whom she told family she was traveling with died in a crash.
The Accomack County Sheriff’s Office posted to Facebook about missing person Alyssa Nicole Taylor, 25, on Sept. 25, noting she said she was “leaving the area in a tractor-trailer for a few days.”
That Sept. 13 text to her mother Krista Taylor, whom she lived with in Accomack County, Virginia, was her last contact with family, according to the News & Observer.
In the message, Taylor said she was “riding with Danny in tractor-trailer for two days.”
Daniel Eugene McNeal, 51, of Exmore, Virginia, died Sept. 14 when the tractor-trailer he was driving burned in a single-vehicle crash on Interstate 85 west in Hillsborough, according to North Carolina State Highway Patrol records.
The tractor-trailer, registered to VFS Leasing, ran off the road to the right and struck a guardrail before hitting a traffic sign and bridge abutment, according to Highway Patrol. The Mack truck then overturned and came to a rest on the right shoulder. The truck was hauling chicken parts.
His dog, Blu, also was killed, according to the News & Observer.
“Exhaustive efforts” to look over the crash scene and truck were made, Highway Patrol told WRALbut Alyssa Taylor, was not located there.
Family of the mother of two boys continue to search for her, posting to a Gofundme page that “With little to no cab left we have thus far just found her blanket and one flip flop among the wreckage.”
A Gofundme for McNeal says, “Although he died doing what he loved, it was unexpected, and we miss him more than anything. He was a fantastic man who adored his family, especially the children in his life, including his grandchildren and great niece and nephew.”
